Ok, so I have all but abandoned the pole. It's still fun to flip around on once in a while, but I have totally fallen for aerial silk. I am saving to make one to rig up at home so that I can practice more. Right now, I can only make it to class once a month, so I need to practice in between. I'd like to be able to choreograph a routine for competition or at least something to throw in a ward talent show, should we ever have one. I think it would be a little more appropriate than a pole routine, given the amount of clothing required for each apparatus.

 

 

Easter in Moab didn't happen this year. Sad. Money is getting tight for a bunch of the Scott's, I may be getting furloughed from work a for (as of now) 14 days. It wasn't a total bust, though. The kids got to do 5 egg hunts this year and the Easter Bunny was able to hide the real eggs we dyed since we were home to find them before 9pm. Next year though, we will go with or without the rest of the Scotts (Assuming Kasey can get the time off if he is a rookie cop with a new agency)

Next Friday, I am going to potty train Parker, despite the scepticism from Kasey. I am using the same 3-day method that I used on Phoenix. She threw her diapers in the garbage one day and has never gone back. He is not too young and I refuse to have a 3-yr old in diapers. It kinda makes me sad whenever Parker reaches a milestone because we are not having any more babies, but one of the things I want most to teach my children is independence. I won't baby them for my own selfish wish that they would stay little forever. I am terrified and excited for what is to come with my 2 strong, wonderful children.

Kasey:

Well, it is hunting season. There's really not alot that needs to be explained here. When he's not at work, he is often on the mountain. No kills yet, but there is plenty of time for redemption. He said he's not living up to his self-proclaimed "Hunter-Gatherer" responsibility.

Randee:

Just hit my one year anniversary with Hill Air Force Base and I am loving my job! I am certainly not rich, but this job has made it possible for us to Phoenix in dance and our grocery budget is a little more than the $40/month that it was when I was at Fresh Market. Thriller is coming up in 2 weeks

and the Carrie Underwood concert in 3! Kasey and I have been doing awesome and although he acts like I am dragging him to the Temple each month, I know he enjoys it. I can't wait to take him up to the Brigham City Temple. He was working when we went to the open house with my family.

 

Phoenix:

Our little princess just turned 4! She asked me to let her cut her hair spikey again, so I said OK. However, the stylest tht cut it freaking butchered it. So 2 months later, it is long enough that I'm not so upset about it. It has to be styled though, otherwise she looks like a boy. Never again. I want her to have long hair at least once in her life. She has started dance again and is still doing Jazz/Ballet. I'm so grateful that we are able to let her do it. She loves dancing! She is loving Angelina Ballerina, Super Why, and Tom and Jerry on "Necka-flix." She got about 5 new dress up dresses for her birthday and loves to be in them. Of course, they are princesses and a new Tinkerbell dress. She will be Cinderella this year for Halloween.

Parker:

Our Parker Boy is 19 months old now and is talking so much! He can pretty much repeat anything you ask him to say. My favorite is "Happidy" for "Happy" His poor little head is a concrete/gravel magnet and he got over one gash on his head just in time for these photos, then, 2 days after, got himself another one. He won't let me put band-aids on him so I have to sneak into his room after he has fallen asleep and put them on him, so at least they'll heal a little faster over night. He loves his little buddy, Easton and wants to play with him when he sees him. I have to watch him cause he loves to high-five and give knuckles and if unattended by Easton, I'm sure he would piss Easton right off with a punch or high-five to the face. Soon enough, he will be old enough to run around with Parker and the big kids. I am trying to put together a police costume for him this year, so that is the plan for now. We'll see if I can pull it together by Halloween.

We had a busy 4th of July this year. At 8:30, we went to the Slaterville breakfast

Then it was time to line up for the parade. Phoenix and I have ridden in the golf cart with Grandpa Slater since 2010, the year that Grandma Slater passed away. This year, Rylee and Jayk joined us and we got to ride in Grandpas Mustang!

Parker sat on the side of the road with Kasey and my parents and was loving all of the candy coming his way.

The parade ended at Marriott park, where we played games, had lunch, and got even more candy.

Then, it was off to Kylees house for the 100ft slip and slide.

After an hour break at home, we went to the Tripps for a BBQ

Then to Layton Park for the fireworks.

Parker wasn't scared at all. He kept pointing at the sky and saying "boom boom"

  









Newborns!

 Our First July Baby!  Little Easton joined our crazy Scott family on July 11th. I love to see first-time parents! So excited for Kellie and Kyle's adventure! 

Tyler and Sarah aren't exactly first-timers, but they are competing with Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar so we are rooting them on in their edevors. Little Tessa is baby #5 for these 2 and she came into this world on May 29th.

I love new models and it's fun to hold a newborn without having to think about their teenage years.
     
We have started a new chart for Phoenix to earn rewards for good behavior. She picked out 6 pictures that I turned into "coins.", I she is naughty, she loses a coin, but she can earn it back by being good. If she has all 6 coins at the end of the day, she gets a sticker. Then 10 stickers = Reward. However, if all 6 coins are lost, they cannot be earned back. Each day she starts out fresh with all 6 coins. It sounds a little complex, but she's getting the hang of it and I really hope it will help her to choose the right.

      Kasey and I went to my friend, Kylee's wedding in May and it was such a wonderful experience. I felt that Kasey and I were having a hard time, but being at the Temple felt so great. I decided that we needed to really get there each month. So far, so good. The Ogden Temple is being rebuilt right now so we have been going to Bountiful. I can't wait for the Brigham City Temple open house so that we can take Phoenix to it. I can feel the Gospel just a little bit stronger in our home and I love it. I am also reading "The Love Dare" to strengthen our marriage. If you haven't seen the movie "Fireproof," I highly reccomend it. It is really inspirational whether your marriage is going strong, or hitting some hard times.

All I want is Everything

I am so blessed to have so many wonderful things in my life. If only everything would correlate so that I could enjoy it all to the fullest extent. Kasey has been applying and testing with Northern Utah Police agencies for a few months and is desperately working to gain a career bustin the bad guys. I think it'll be really good for him. Plus there's the benefit of the uniform. Rawr.  He finally got off the graveyard shift at Smith's, but now he is usually working swings. The nice part is that it saves us money on childcare, but the sucky part is he's not home at night to watch the kids while I go out pole dancing....

That's right, pole dancing. Seriously, if you've never been on a pole, you are missing out. It is the best workout I have had while having a blast! I haven't tapped into the arial silk or arial hammok classes yet, but as soon as our schedules allow it, you bet your booty I will taking those classes. I go to French Kiss Fitness. There is a studio in Syracuse and one in Ogden. I started going to their hip hop class in Ogden after I had Phoenix, to get back into shape and thought I would never be one of those women on the poles. Here I am, 4 years later and the Syracuse Studio is just brand new and so convenient, I love this fitness membership. I am going to plug the studio, so that you can all see what really goes on there. We're not training to strip and work the clubs on the weekend. It is amazing, the things that these seasoned girls can do. www.frenchkissfitness.com Seriously, if you are looking to get into better shape and are not the biggest treadmill or spin bike fan, check it out. It is not embarassing, but it is challenging and in return, empowering.

Phoenix and Parker:

Phoenix is starting dance on June 5th at Studio 48. I had to take away her dance clothes until she actually starts because she wants to wear them ALL OF THE TIME and I know she will destroy them. She will do so good. When I do let her wear them, I catch her in her room, twirling around and practicing pointing her litle toes. She is a little sass, though. She not only has the most argumentive attitude, she cocks her little neck and raises her little eyebrow when she is telling me off. I have to try really hard to take her seriously because it's seriously so funny.

Parker has started saying "oh oh" When he drops something. He's still not saying any other words, really, besides "mom" and "dada" once in a while, but he talks jibberish fluently and he gets really animated in his facial expressions when he is talking to you. He's a Paddy-Cake pro. And despite his appetite, (yesterday he had a cup of applesauce, a bunch of goldfish and 2 hotdogs before church, and continued to snack throughout the whole 2 hours of Primary) I cannot get that boy to pack on the pounds! He is in the 1% percentile for weight for his age. Look at his 15 month photos though. SO HANDSOME!!  He had a bruise in the middle of his forehead for about a week and when it finally went away, I thought I should hurry and get his photos done. Naturally, that morning, he ran into the bathroom door frame and got an instant goose egg. Good thing he had this adoreable hat!

So excited for summer. Bring on the babies!! I get a new niece in a few weeks and a new nephew in a few more. Watch out, babies, aunt Randee just got new backdrops! Hold on mamas, you're so close!! I am so happy for you and can't wait to change those little bums!

Red Rockin' Out

As usual, Moab came and went way too fast. We usually have 4 vehicles in our little entourage, but this year, only 2 jeeps went. We didn't have enough seats to take everyone on a Super Saturday trail, so we opted out and took Kyles and Rorys 4-wheelers instead. We're super famous for flying by the seat of our pants or "just winging it", which usually results in spontaneous adventures. Not so much this trip. We'd spend hours trying to figure out what to do and just end up on wheelers, at the pool, or on a 2 hour drive through a burned down forrest, which I'm pretty sure took us into Colorado a little bit. I totally missed having Tyler's family there. Tyler is the craziest and yet most rational of all of the Scott's. He can seriously talk you into or out of just about anything.

This is Adrie on the "Scenic" drive through the twisted, motion-sickness inducing, directionless drive. No one forced me into the car, so I can only blame myself, but I assure you that I have learned my lesson.

On Saturday afternoon, we went and played around on Steelbender for a few hours. We had forgotten how tough, but fun that trail is and I think we decided on that trail next year. Kasey had me drive for a bit and it wasn't nearly as scary as driving the spot on Poison Spider that I tried last year.

As is every year, but the time Sunday rolled around, we were all sick of each other and we all wanted to kill each other. Kasey swore that we wouldn't be going next year...
ah, another succesfull Scott family vacation.



Movie Review - The Hunger Games

Yay for Kellie to get me a ticket to the movie the day before it came out at 8:00pm! I just don't know if I could do a midnight showing these days. It was very much worth the $13 ticket.

So The Hunger Games is another book-turned-movie franchise. It is just getting it start at the end of the Twilight era. I am a total Twi-hard, mind you. I loved the books and tolerated the acting in the rediculously cheesy film adapations. The only thing that Twilight and The Hunger Games have in common is the girl caught between two dudes problem. I will take this moment to voice my side on team Peeta. I can argue my point later. Jennifer Lawrence plays the PERFECT Katniss. And Willow Shields as Prim surprised me. She has such a small role in this film, but she totally made me cry! Luckily Sarah brought tissues since she cried while reading the book. I cannot rave enough about the emotions that these two young ladies portrayed. Every character that was cast totally fits the character descriptions in the book. Too bad Cato had to die, He's a stone fox.I wish that there could've been a little more attention to the relationship between Peeta and Katniss going back to the burned bread, but that's just for the sake of those who haven't read the books. It leaves a few holes. Having read the books, it all made sense to me. I thought it was filmed very tastefully, considering the muderous content. A few of the scenes were very shaky and made me sick to watch, but it's better than seeing it clearly, I guess.

Can't wait to see it again and again. 4.5 stars
