Last week was the Scott family annual vacation to Moab. I look forward to 4 things each year: Moab, my Birthday, Sourdough Days and Halloween. This year was so much fun, despite the severe lack of off-roading. Thursday, We hiked up to Corona arch, even with Phoenix and Parker. That was pretty much our only day of nice weather. Friday was pretty much wasted, but we did get to celebrate Emrie's 7th birthday. So Saturday, we were stoked to finally take our jeep off the freaking pavement. We attempted Poison Spider Mesa trail and totally could've completed it, but one of the Jeeps in our entourage died about 2 miles into the trail. As always, it became an adventure. First of all, Kasey made me drive one of the scariest climbs. I made it up about 5 feet and started to slide. Once it stopped, I put her in park and made Kasey finish it. I tried and I was brave, but I am not going to be the one to roll our Jeep, with my whole family inside. When we were towing the red Jeep back down that same spot, it nearly rolled. I was totally spooked and couldn't relax until we were off that trail. Unfortunately, because of the cold weather, we couldn't take Phoenix on the go-carts, so that will have to happen next year. This was my 6th year going on this trip and I am happy to report that it is the very first year that Kasey and I did not get into a fight! Seriously, it's over the dumbest stuff, too. But we've seen so little of each other since he started working graveyard shifts, that we were not going to waste our 5 days together and we liked each other the whole time!
We weren't even sure that Kasey and Rory would be able to go until 3 days before we left. They both got scheduled and had to fight tooth-and-nail to get the time off. Kasey even transferred stores, so he's closer to home now and it'll be easier for him and Rory to get the same time off. We are still trying to get new, day jobs, but until then, we've just got to be grateful that we both have jobs.
Check out my "Peeps" wreath! So, my decor shelf was lookin a little bare. My "SPRING" letters are about all I have to display, so I started looking for some spring decor ideas online and I came across a wreath made out of blue, yellow, and pink peeps. I have never liked peeps, but I thought it was super cute, so I shared the idea with my sister-in-law, Kellie, who is a little more than into peeps and wreaths. It took her about 2 seconds to get on board and she came over to create her own masterpeice alongside me. (Hers is pink, purple and yellow). Pretty much any color combination looks good (except red), but I wouldn't recommend more than 3 colors. It looks way too busy and may cause a seizure.
I've shared Parkers story and the story of Kasey and me, but what about Phoenix? Phoenix was our first little miracle. It took us 2 years to become pregnant with her and when we found out that she was (another) girl, her Grandpa Kevin was overjoyed. (There were 6 granddaughters and only 2 grandsons on this side at the time, and this is a family of hunters). Phoenix was due Oct. 9, 2008, but she was born Sept. 19, weighing a whopping 5lb 4oz. She has been tiny her whole life. At 2 1/2, she has finally made it onto the charts, in the 1% percentile. I could not be more proud of my little beaner. She already knows her "ABCDs", colors, shapes, is potty trained, and can count to 10 by herself, 20 with a little assistance. She picks up EVERYTHING she hears and is a great conversationalist. She loves Mater, Woody, and her babies. She loves to go to church and see "the friends" every week. Phoenix loves her mommy, but no one holds a candle to daddy's flame. She is exactly like I was when I was little. She is a dancin fool, She talks all the time, is pretty sassy, and quite bossy. But I was a good kid over all so I will be lucky if she turns out as awesome as I did.
